Roller derby is coming back to Kearney!

The Platte Valley Roller Vixens will take on the Heartland Hellcats, at 7 p.m. June 25 at the Viareo Center in Kearney. This will be the Vixens’ third bout against their railtown rivals this year.

The Vixens previously defeated North Platte 158-62 in their season opener at Fonner Park on Feb. 13, but lost a second match-up at the DN Event Center in North Platte, with the Hellcats pulling out a 110-101 win in the last moments of the game.

Tickets are $12 for adults, and $6 for children 12 and under. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.kearneyevents.com or at the door.

Platte Valley last competed in Kearney in 2013, under their former team name Tri-City Rolling Thunder, but the team has spent the years since continuing to grow, building up both player skills and a fan base in Grand Island, and playing against teams from Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas.

An all-volunteer league, with players from Kearney, Hastings and Grand Island, the Vixens are committed to being positive role models in the tri-city area through displays of athleticism, good sportsmanship and volunteerism.
